Windows installer without AMP

by fblauer » Thu Jun 18, 2009 4:50 pm

Is it possible to get a windows installer with AMP - useful if XAMPP is already installed, and we don't want to install another instance of apache and mysql, PHP etc. The manual web install for linux doesn't seem to work well on windows.

The Linux installer only contains php files and a database file which is exactly what you will need to run on your own AMP in Windows. What issues are you encountering trying to run it on your own AMP setup in Windows?

I thought it would install another amp instance, in addition to the one that was already there. Am I wrong about this? I just wanted to use the one that was already there (in use for other amp apps). If it installs another amp instance, how much additional memory/resources will it take?

Our Windows installer will add its own AMP. If you use the Linux installer you can just grab the NolaPro files from the nolapro folder and put them in your existing Windows AMP stack. What issues are you having running the NolaPro files on your own AMP stack?

I keep getting messages like:
"cannot insert new invoice"
"cannot insert new customer"
I suspect it is this manual installation that is causing the problem, because I don't get it on another machine where I used the default windows install.

This problem may be due to strict mode in MySQL 5 being turned on. The MySQL 5 installation that comes with the Windows version of NolaPro should have the strict mode turned off by default, but your existing MySQL instance may have it on.

To check the current mode type in a MySQL administration tool:
SELECT @@global.sql_mode;

You can clear the strict mode by typing:
SET GLOBAL sql_mode='';

OK, I will give that a try. Would that also apply to Mac and Linux users?

Yes, this should also work for Linux and Mac users.

You might want to consider adding it to the documentation.
