Encoding and MySQL collation

Postby stylight on Wed Jan 13, 2010 4:26 pm

Hi,

I noticed that although I set Admin > System Setting > Encoding to UTF-8, the Collation used in the database is latin1_swedish_ci rather than UTF-8 based.
Any specific reason to this choice?

Tx,

That setting is only for display in web pages. It does not affect the character encoding used in the database. You are welcome to change your database table character encodings to utf-8 if you want.
